TEXTILE DESIGN:
DIPLOMA COURSE LEVEL 2

Successful textile designers marry a creative vision of what a finished textile will look like with a deep understanding of the technical aspects of production and the properties of fiber, yarn, and dyes.

COURSE STRUCTURE + HOW IT WORKS

Designs for both woven and printed textiles often begin with a drawing or watercolor sketch of the finished design are covered in this courses.

Traditionally, drawings of woven textile patterns were translated onto special forms of graph paper called point papers which were used by the weavers in setting up their looms.

Today, most professional textile designers use some form of computer-aided design software created expressly for this purpose.

This course will teach you everything you need to know and develop the skills to launch your career into this sector.

There are 6 modules in this course to be completed. Each module has been designed as progressive steps so that you are learning by doing. You will be presented with Projects and Assignments in each module in which you will be assessed, plus a final exam which is carried online through our eCampus.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Software:
For this course, Students should have one or all of the following; Adobe Creative Suite 4 (any version) or Individual Programs such as Illustrator, PhotoShop, Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Time:
Dedication to this course depends on the time you have available. This course should take between 12 and 18 months, but can be completed quicker or longer. It is flexible, but we can set a schedule for you if you require to finish this course by a specific time.

Study Material:
Study material will be supplied, but we will also list a variety of additional study books etc which you can purchase if you wish.

Communication:
It is important that you have access to the internet, plus Skype would also be an advantage for live lessons.

Knowledge & Skills:
This course can be for beginners and no prior knowledge or experience required to study this course.

Your Attributes:
An ability to be self motivated, an eye for design and open to new ideas.

Entry Qualifications:
None required for this course, but you must be able to communicate, read and write in English.

FINAL EXAM:
You will have to complete a final exam successfully to be awarded the Diploma for this course subject

ASSESSMENTS:
If you are successfully awarded a place on this course, you will be given a Pre-Course Assessment prior to beginning the main course. This is not a test and only an assessment on the level you are at at your time of entry. It will also not affect your course enrollment.

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
You will also be giving full support and individual training on using the related Adobe Creative Suite software throughout this course. Every module n this course has a live project to carry out, and we will use these projects to help develop and improve your software skills. Live training is provided on a one to one basis using Skype, plus individual video support.

FOREIGN STUDENTS
We have students from all over the world which means that some may struggle with the English language. We will give individual support in improving English throughout this course for those who can speak some English but will require further development. Please note that all our courses are delivered in English, although many of our tutors can speak some other languages and may be able to support up to a certain level. It is important however that you understand basic English for this course.
