What you will Learn

This course will cover all aspects of Advertising Design from understanding how advertising works to designing a full advertising campaign.

You will learn how to start a project and carry it through to final concept design. We will be using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or Affinity Suite to help produce your designs for both Print and Digital. We will look at different advertising channels such as social media, website advertising, outdoor and printed advertising. Using correct images, text and understanding the audience is something that needs to be taking into account when design an advert. Everything you need to become a uniques advertising designer is included in this specialist course.

Each of the modules below act as a step by step process helping to to fully understand everything in the correct order. This way the stress of learning is reduced greatly and at the same time not missing out any important attribute to become a professional Advertising designer.

MODULE ONE: Understanding Advertising

Understanding Advertising is essential and this module looks at the history and evolution of Advertising Design. This module will get you focused and ready to plan for the rest of this course. You will be off to a great start and brought up to speed with advertising and its needs in todays market and business environments. We will start with some case studies as well as your full introduction to this course and what you need and should achieve.

MODULE TWO: Types of Advertising

There are more types of advertising now than there has ever been and we will be looking at these in detail in this module. We will look at all types of advertising channels including digital and print plus how the are applied and why. There will be case studies plus live projects to carry out in this module along with guides and support from your professional course tutor/design coach. 

MODULE THREE: Working with Clients

Knowing how to work with your clients will help you to create the advertising campaign they are looking for. You will look at how to develop a client brief for the adverts you will be designing for and the best communication process you should be taking with them. There will be projects to complete which will focus on how to work with your clients and how to get the best results for them.

MODULE FOUR: Visual Communication

Being able to communicate effectively and quickly is essential. Advertising is all about visual communication and being able to understand how this works will be an essential part of you being successful This module will present you with real-life projects on the best ways of doing this and the areas involved. We will look at a variety of methods and how to use these to create the best adverts and establish ways of measuring their success.

MODULE FIVE: The Creative Process

It is very important to be able to develop an effective Creative Thinking process so that you are able to rise to the challenge of dynamic, solution-seeking and unique design ideas, development and delivery. Working closely with your professional course tutor/design coach, you will go through process techniques by carrying out a number of real-life projects. At the end of this module you will have created your own creative process which will help you to overcome that blank moment plus focus on what is actually needed instead of ideas that just pop into your head. It is essential for ideas work so this is one our most important modules of the course. 

MODULE SIX: Getting the Message Across

Now you are going to look at the impact of words, how they should be applied, the style and format of Typography, and the order of importance. You will be working on a few projects in this module which will involve creating dynamic headlines using typography that reinforces the message you are trying to communicate to particular audiences. It won’t just be words, headings and text but also images to extend the message in the correct order. You will really enjoy this module and working with your professional course tutor/design coach.

MODULE SEVEN: Designing the Advert

It’s time to put to practice what you have learned so far. Again you will be given a number of projects to work on with your one-to-one professional course tutor/design coach. This is designed to help demonstrate your progress and to build on any of your weak and also strong areas. Every step up until now from each module will be applied here and it will give you a clear idea to what you can achieve now that you have developed new skills and used new tools.

MODULE EIGHT: Producing the Advert

You are going to plan and produce project-based adverts in this module – each one will look at the order of importance, the impact and avoid mistake making and disasters. You will be going into detail with what you need and why. Using the technology available to us and understanding how to use these will be essential in the production of your adverts or advertising campaigns. We will also cover technical specifications which you will need to know before your start production and this module will help you with this.

MODULE NINE: Did it Work?

How are you going to find out if you’re advert work and what methods are there available for doing this? You will be given detailed guidance on how this is done following the design and development of a couple of projects. At the end of this module you should have a set of useful tools to help you measure the success of your advert or advertising campaign designs.

Once you have completed all of your modules you will the complete a final exam which will be project based. This is carried out online through our online campus. You will decide with your course tutor/design coach when you will want to do this.
