COURSE STRUCTURE

There are 7 modules in this course to be completed, plus a final exam which is carried online through our eCampus plus through Skype with your very own Design & Training Coach. Throughout this course you will be working on live projects which will also help to build your unique and creative portfolio which is valuable to any designer.

MODULE ONE: Introduction to Packaging Design
In this first module you will look at the history and the developments within the Packaging Industry. It is very important that you understand the evolution of this ever changing environment to help you to lay a foundation to your own style.

MODULE TWO: The Creative Process
One of the most valuable areas in you design career. This module will guide you and help you to develop your very own creative design process so that you will come up with your very own unique ideas and inspiration.

MODULE THREE: Design for Packaging, Tags & Labels
Now that you have started to get your own design process into a system for yourself, we will now start you working on a number of projects which you will work in great detail with your 1 to 1 Design and Training Coach. Here you will go through the complete process and cover all of the important, technical and production areas of packaging and label design.

MODULE FOUR: Testing Your Designs
You will take what you have designed in Module Three and be shown how to test your designs before you even attempt to go to final production. This will involve a number of test areas which will become very valuable to you as a designer and your clients

MODULE FIVE: Presentation
Selling your ideas are just as important as designing them. In this module you will learn how to present your ideas effectively and creatively. You will be given a selection of project to assist you with this area which again you will work on with your 1 to 1 Design & Training Coach

MODULE SIX: Packaging, Tags & Label Detective
Time to look outside your own designs and into the world of Packaging and Label Design. Here you will be given a number of tasks to carry out and look at other projects to see how and why they have been done in a particular style and format

MODULE SEVEN: The Ultimate Project
Just as the title says in this module. You will be given a number of projects which will become your Ultimate Projects, bring everything you have learnt in this course to a close. You will not only find this module exciting, but stimulating and inspiring.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Software:
The industry standard software for this course is the Adobe Creative Suite. Any version will be acceptable for this course, but Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign will be required. You can also subscribe to the Adobe Creative Cloud as a Student which will entitle you to a very good discount in which you can pay monthly. This way you will have access to all of the latest software and all the updates. Other software is acceptable for this course.

Time:
Dedication to this course depends on the time you have available. There are 2 option available for studying this course; Fixed Term Course in which you would complete your course in 6 months, or Flexible Study in which you can study at your own pace.

Study Material:
Study material will be supplied, but we will also list a variety of additional study books etc which you can purchase if you wish.

Communication:
It is important that you have access to the Internet so you can access your course through our eCampus, plus Skype would also be an advantage for live lessons.

Knowledge & Skills:
This course can be for beginners and no prior knowledge or experience required to study this course.

Your Attributes:
An ability to be self motivated, an eye for design and open to new ideas.

Entry Qualifications:
None required for this course, but you must be able to communicate, read and write in English.

Qualification Awarded:
On successful completion of this course plus completing the final exam, you will be awarded a Specialist Diploma Certificate in Packaging Design.

Progression Options:
Once you have completed this course successfully, you will be able to progress onto the one of our other Specialist Courses or a Degree Course depending on your final results.

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
You will also be giving full support and individual training on using the related Adobe Creative Suite software throughout this course. Every module n this course has a live project to carry out, and we will use these projects to help develop and improve your software skills. Live training is provided on a one to one basis using Skype, plus individual video support.
