What you will learn

This is a beginners level course and will take you through the basics of Graphic Design. This is a great way to start if you have no prior knowledge of graphic design and want to start at the beginning.

Below are the 6 modules involved in this course:

MODULE ONE: Design Basics
Before you can fully understand what is involved in graphic design, you will need to know the basis of design. In this first module, you will be taken through 6 very important steps which will help you to understand and plan your designs from the very beginning.
MODULE TWO: Elements
The elements covered in this module are Images, Files and Typography basics. You will work on a couple of projects with your Design & Training Coach to help you to understand and use these elements in effective ways.
MODULE THREE: Colour
Working with and using colour is a very important attribute when designing, so it is very important to be able to use these effectively. You will venture into different formats of colour use in this module when you carry out a number of projects and assignments to build your confidence in this area.
MODULE FOUR: Pre-Press
Now it is all about getting your designs ready for production, which is called ‘PrePress’. There are a lot of things to consider before sending your designs to the printers for production. Here we will look into the areas included in this process to get the best possible finish and to clear any problems prior to the production process.
MODULE FIVE: Production
The moment of truth, when your design is going to be printed, so again you will extend what you have learned in module 4 by covering the main areas when it comes to printing, how it will be printed and what it is being printed on.
MODULE SIX: Finishing
This is the creative side of the production of your design. You will investigate different options available to you in the finishing of your design and how it can look with different effects and materials applied – a great way to extend your creativity.
There is a final exam for this course which is carried out online through our online campus.

AILEEN BENNIE - Falkirk, Scotland

As I was not sure exactly which direction I wanted to go in, this was perfect for me. I was impressed by the website and student magazines on the Creative Design School International website and reading about other students experiences made me really keen to get started. I started with the Graphic Design for Beginners course and have now completed Level 2 and studying Visual Communcation Specialist Level.

ROB REDFORD - Spalding, England

Working with my course tutor has been great, I am looking forward to moving onto the intermediate and advanced courses. What I like about CDS and this method of learning is that I can pick it up whenever and wherever I want and fit it into my family/work life. But also I have direct real contact with a tutor via face to face Skype tutorial sessions. Knowing there is a real dedicated team behind you, who are there to help you rather than a site with a bunch of tutorials for you to download and that’s it is brilliant and is what attracted me to the course.

STUDENTS STORIES
